Station 02 Malacca

Malacca is a historical city in Malaysia, which I have learned from textbooks and documentaries long time ago. Since it is not far from Kuala Lumpur, I packed my bags and started my adventure in Malacca today.

I prefer public transportation, or honestly, I am a bad driver, thus driving to Malacca by myself has already crossed from my options list. After I done some research online, long term bus seems to be the most suitable option for my trip to Malacca.

Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS)
Address: Jalan Terminal Selatan, Bandar Tasek Selatan, 57100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
Contact number: 03-9051 2000
It normally takes around 2 hours from TBS to Malacca, and fees are different from different bus companies. Luckily, there are several options for the entire day, thus I can purchase the bus ticket on spot. However, the air-con of bus was so cold, and I forgot to bring a jacket, I was freeze during the whole trip. While I reached Metrobus Ekspres in Malacca, I but the returning ticket for tomorrow.

I was quite shocked that Malacca is really a small city, all of these tourist attractions are crowded together. However, among walking around these historical attractions, I seemed to feel the ancient time.

13:00 – 14:45
The time period of visiting historical attractions was too short that I have to change my plan. The timing is perfect, I can start to do food hunting during my lunchtime. All of the restaurants and cafes I tried are located at Jonker Street. Foods there are so special due to mixed with Nyonya cultures, and they are delicious!

I had eaten too many foods and beverages, so I decided to walk along with the Malacca River, to enjoy the views and sunshine. There are many beautiful murals on the buildings, and I kept taking pictures. Colorful flowers and clean sky, what a nice day.

Thanks for couple of hours of walking, I have spaces to have dinner. I went to the famous satay restaurants to try their well-known satay hotpot, and glad to discover a new flavor of food. After that, I went back to Jonker Street, as it has a night market. There are much interesting stuff sold in the night market, and snacks there are quite tasty.

Capital Satay Celup
Address: No.41, Lorong Bukit Cina, Melaka
Operating time: 17:00 – 23:00

It is a long day today, after walking through Jonker Street I felt very tired and head back to the hostel to rest. There are many Airbnb and hotels in Malacca, and some of them are heritages. I will do some shopping tomorrow and go back to Kuala Lumpur at noon. It is a very memorable trip, and I will definitely miss the special taste of foods here. Hope to have another trip soon.

Shopping tips
San Shu Gong not only served food and beverages there, but it also sells local snacks and foods to tourists. The location is quite convenient, and the options are varied. Personally, I would recommend bottled Teh Tarik, it is the best I ever tried.
